ABOUT RONKE
Before There Was “Cheetah Mom,” There Was Survival.
Before the speaking engagements, the businesses, and the success stories, there was a young Nigerian mother arriving in America in the dead of winter with a baby, uncertainty, and less than $500 to her name. There were nights of fear, moments of culture shock, jobs nobody saw, and sacrifices nobody applauded. There were floors to scrub, bills to stretch, and dreams to protect.
And somewhere in the middle of all of it, a philosophy was born: Raise children who can survive disappointment, rejection, pressure, failure, success, and life itself. Raise children who get knocked down, come home to recoup and get kicked back out (what I lovingly call my 'LaQuinta Rehab').
And that philosophy...
That philosophy was tested in real life. It became the foundation for raising:
- A #1 New York Times bestselling author
- A globally touring musician
- A Hollywood creative
- Children deeply connected to purpose, identity, and family
But my survival wasn't just in parenting...
As a Registered Nurse, a Healthcare Executive with an MBA, and a current Doctoral Candidate, I didn't just build a family—I built a multi-million-dollar hospice company from the ground up. I defeated an 18-month Medicare audit as a CEO, and I negotiated at the highest levels as an NFL sports agent. The Cheetah Mom code isn't just a theory; it is battle-tested in the boardroom, the clinical world, and the living room.
Today, when I am not running businesses or building the Cheetah Mom movement, I am an avid recreational golfer—a passion I discovered during my own mid-life pivot, proving that every high-achieving woman must eventually learn to 'Find Her Golf' and discover her true passion outside of work
“My job was never to create impressive children. My job was to raise humans capable of surviving life without me.”
